First assessment of pinus plantations site quality in the Arci-Grighine forest district

The purpose of this work is to determinate the environmental factors that influence on the Pinus spp. stand yield. This work is a support study for the project “Legno sardo per edifici sostenibili” (see http://www.sardegnaambiente.it/j/v/152?s=154433&v=2&c=1564&t=1 for further information).

The location is the forest district Arci-Grighine (OR). The first step was the selection of some stands/polygons from forest district map. For each selected stand dendrometrics (dbh, h) and location (slope, aspect, stand orientation from N, etc.) parameters are gathered.

For each of these stands the “dominant height” was calculated to define his fertility, then the Site Index at 30 y.o. to compare the stands among each other and assess which environmental factors that influence  the yield.
