Preliminary studies on Eucalyptus growth and yield in Sardinia, the Campidano di Oristano study case

In Sardinia there are many eucalyptus plantations under private as well as public property. Particularly in the Campidano area they are quite profitable, though there are few studies that can help the owners improve their management.

The aim of this work is to provide instruments to address selvicultural interventions and to optimise volume production.

The first step is focused on the estimations of the main forest mensuration parameters of these plantations, information required to proceed with their assessment.

Measurements DataBase - Setting up a proper structure
The "entities" we measure display mainly hierarchical "relations".
At higher levels we have topographical entities like, regions, localities, farms, fields (or "Fasce" in your case) and stumps (or "Ceppe" as we call it). These entities are associated with a geometric object defining their position on a map.
Lower level "entities" like "Basi", "Fusti", "Rami" and samples thereof progressively specify the lowest topographical entity "Ceppe". I.e. the key for these entities is progressively longer.
You have to restructure your DB considering these relations. E.g. you must have a Ceppe table with (x, y and species) fields (even if species is constant in your case, as far as we know).
